libevent1-dev software package provides development libraries, header files and docs for libevent, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libevent1-dev
libevent1-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libevent1-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libevent1-dev *
You will get with libevent1-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
